Need romantic date ideas?
You have some time alone together. It’s date night. Romance is in the air—or it would be, if you could figure out a romantic date idea!
Thankfully, The Romance Place has some ideas, and we’re happy to share our romantic date tips with you. We’re not talking about the standard dinner and a movie; these are much more creative ideas that give you more face time with each other. There should be something here for everyone, whether your idea of romance is sweet and frilly or hot and sexy.
- An EVENTful Date: Head out to the nearest street fair, Saturday market, farmer’s market, art walk, home show or whatever event you can find in or near your town. Stroll through the events hand-in-hand, enjoy the sights and sounds of the celebration, check out the local artisans’ wares. You don’t need to buy anything; the point is to just do something different together. Get lunch or dinner from a vendor or stop into the nearest cozy restaurant. You’ll be surprised at how much time you’ll actually spend talking (and connecting) when you’re out in a festive atmosphere as a couple—and that’s key to romance.
- Stargazing Date: On a night that’s not cloudy, head outside after dark. Bundle up if needed, spread a blanket or sleeping bag and comfy pillows on the ground, and look up. The night sky is beautiful and peaceful, and you’ll soon find yourselves pointing out the sights. Romance bonus: if it’s chilly, you’ll have to snuggle up together. (Remember to turn off all outside lights for this date, so you can see the stars better—and have a bit more privacy for romance!)
- Bedtime Story Date: This one’s fun as an add-on to any other romantic date or as a standalone evening of romance. (It's a little more slanted toward sex, too). Pick up a book of erotica, especially if it's your first foray into erotica. For many women, erotica aimed at couples tends to light the romantic fire better than porn. Slip into sweet or sexy lingerie, and have a grown-up read-aloud story time.
- Romance Cliché Date: Take a walk in the rain. No, really! Let yourselves do something ridiculous and romantic. Remember how wonderful the rain can feel. Laugh together. Duck under a tree. Splash in a puddle. Then go straight to your favorite coffee shop or pub and warm up with a steamy cup o’ java or something a little stronger.
- Light My Fire Date: Turn off the TV and light a fire in the fireplace. Open a bottle of wine, get cozy, snuggle, take turns giving each other sensual massage. Pretty soon you’ll be making your own romantic sparks!
- Get Playful Date: When was the last time you played miniature golf or went bowling? Give it a shot—you and your husband will end up with an evening of shared laughter. (And when you think of romance, laughter is usually part of the picture.)
- Splurge Date: Have a little extra money to spend on romance? Book a plane ride from a local pilot. The views of your town will take your breath away. Afterwards, head home for some romance that will leave you breathless, too.
- Artsy Date: Forget the art museum; practice the art of romance at home! Spread some old towels or sheets on the floor or bed, slowly undress each other, then grab the body paints and paint your masterpiece! Tempting as it may be, don’t rush through to the logical conclusion. Spend time playing and building the romantic anticipation. You may not end up with conventional art, but you’re sure to have fun exploring your creative sides!
